My Grandfather is an 84 year old retired Chief Petty Officer who served 20 years in the Navy. He lived through the Great Depression, WW2, and Vietnam, which is why I give him some leeway when he says things like “girls can’t do fill in your task here”. This time I had asked to work for the family business till I could find a job, to which his reply was “No, I don’t think you could handle a job with the properties, there is too much hard manual labor.” However, I am also the girl that has to prove to you I can do something if you say I can’t. So I devised a plan, the plan was simple, to go in Saturday when he was off work. So I spent my Saturday pulling up carpet, which a herd of 15 Pomeranians lived on, ripping all the tack board up, and yanking out the concrete nails with nothing but a box knife and a crowbar. Yeah, I’ll be working next week at the family business and my Grandfather will still be telling me that I can’t do manual labor based on the fact that I have girl parts but hey it’s a job. :)
