You don't even deserve to be in this country......what ever that means...

So I was having a rather lively and unemotional political discussion the other day on Facebook with a acquittance that somehow ended with him screaming (all CAPS lol) "you don't even deserve to be in this country". What the hell? Where did that come from? I thought discussing the faults and failures of the government was supposed to be one of the great things about this country, not this self imposed dictatorship. Should I be looking over my shoulder for the secret police? I mean for real people, if you don't watch the government those fuckers they will do some crazy shit with our country but because I disagree with some policies and choices the government has made I am unpatriotic? No I don't think the US is the best and greatest country in the world...because that isn't patriotism that is ethnocentric. I am more in line with Marcus Garvey I would say, more of a humanist over nationalist. I read a quote by Garvey when I was young that kind of set me up for my way of thinking about race and nationality, it said "We must become members of a new race, overcoming petty prejudice, owing our ultimate allegiance not to nations but to our fellow men within the human community." So no america you are not my number one, you're not my number one for many reasons, because you fight for oil and call it a fight for peace, because people are being subjected to genocide and we do nothing, because there is civil unrest and you don't care, because rape is used as a weapon everyday in other countries and I have to hear some DUI shit about Lindsey Lohan or LoLo or whatever the fuck you are calling her now, because I have no health insurance, because the you still can't decide if some people can get married, because you still haven't freed us we just stopped looking. So with that I'd like to say, I recently read a book called The Red Orchestra by Anne Nelson and in the preface I read the most wonderful thing "true patriotism required them to oppose their own government." So fuck you FB foe!
